Agree the practical details. Then make it happen.

In The Loop makes the introduction. You and the other member decide whether to proceed and are responsible for the arrangement you make.

The short checklist

Before anything changes hands, send one written message or email confirming:

  • The exact item and everything included
  • Its current condition, with photographs if valuable
  • Collection and return dates and times
  • Any price, refundable deposit and payment method
  • How it may be used and any essential safety instructions
  • Who is responsible for loss, damage, late return and insurance
  • How either person can cancel

Both people should reply that they agree and keep a copy. You do not need a formal platform contract for an ordinary, low-risk exchange, but a clear written record prevents most misunderstandings.

At handover and return

  • Check the item together and photograph its condition.
  • Do not use an item that appears unsafe, incomplete or different from the listing.
  • Use a traceable payment method and keep receipts.
  • Meet publicly where practical and share exact addresses only when needed.

What cannot be listed

  • vehicles, lifts or passenger transport
  • weapons, controlled substances or illegal items
  • medical, climbing or other safety-critical equipment
  • gas appliances, hazardous chemicals or electrical-installation work
  • childcare or care arrangements
  • anything you do not own or have permission to share

We may remove another item if it creates a safety, legal or safeguarding risk. Report a concern if something does not feel right.

What In The Loop does

We review listings, provide reporting tools, preserve platform records and can remove content or suspend accounts. We do not own or inspect items, hold deposits, process hire payments, provide insurance or guarantee another member.
