The Open Brief
A little idea. A lot of possibilities.
The Open Brief is a series of community-led creative projects where anyone can get involved. Whether you're an experienced maker, trying something for the first time or simply have something interesting to contribute, there's a place for you here.
Good ideas are better when everyone gets involved.
No portfolio required.
No experience necessary.
Just a little curiosity.
The current brief
The first brief is being prepared.
We'll share it here when it opens. Join In The Loop to hear about it first, or say hello in the Common Room in the meantime.
How it works
Simple to join. Lovely to be part of.
Find a brief
Each brief has a theme, an idea behind it and a few different ways to take part.
Choose your way in
Take a photograph, write something, make something, research, design or lend a hand. Some roles need experience; many don't.
Share or say hello
Send a contribution, or tell us you'd like to help. Everything is read by a real person.
See what we made
Finished projects are published here with credit for everyone who took part.
Ways to contribute
You might have more to offer than you think.
Every brief needs different things. Creative skills, yes, but also curiosity, local knowledge and a willingness to help.
- Photography
- Writing and memories
- Illustration and collage
- Local history and research
- Design and layout
- Organising and coordination
- Local knowledge
- Helping at events
